I finally did it...

I started this blog partly because I really think it's time to get serious about my finances. I haven't posted too much about my future financial goals because I'm still trying to figure those out. But I know this:

1) I want to get out of debt.
2) I need to start saving a portion of my income every month.
3) I need to clean up my credit report so that I can reach my financial goals - like possibly going back to school, buying a home, etc.

So I reported earlier that I'd signed up to contribute to my 401(K) - finally. Well, today I pulled my credit report. I was honestly dreading it. I didn't want to see the horrible ugly truth in black and white. But now that I've done it... it feels almost liberating. Like, I'm not letting my finances control me anymore... I'm not scared. I'm going to face this head on.

I'm going to take this week to really study my credit report and research what I need to do to start cleaning it up. There's one or two things that are such small amounts I'm not sure why I haven't paid them before. :( But then I've always been the type of persont to ignore things in hopes that they'll go away.

Ok, so more on my credit adventures later...

Chores have a way of creeping onto the Most-Fought-About-Topics list (right up there with money, MIL, and where to spend the holidays). It's not always easy for two otherwise-compatible people to agree on how clean (or dirty!) they should keep their home. Swiffer is looking for feedback on the Swiffer WetJet, a product they hope will help couples end the "Chore Wars." And they'd like to hear from you!

How To Get Free 1-Hour Prints From Wal-Mart

So yesterday I went shopping and I picked up a can of shaving gel - Gillette Satin Care shaving gel to be exact. :)

Anyway, since I'm working on getting better bargains - I noticed that there were a few bottles that said 20% FREE and they were the same price. So naturally, I grabbed one of those. But it also had a little orange sticker that said something about 6 Free 1-hr Prints. I didn't pay too much attention to it, until just now.

Here's the deal (http://Walmart.com/photo/SatinCare):
Redeem Your Free SatinCare® Wal-Mart Photo Prints Now!

To get your free set of 1-hour* 4 x 6 prints, follow the 3 easy steps below:
  1. Enter the redemption code printed on the on-pack coupon located on your SatinCare Shave Gel can
  2. Sign in or set up your free Photo Center account
  3. After your offer activated, you can upload and order your favorite photos. You'll be able to pick up your prints at your local Wal-Mart in about one hour.
There's no purchase necessary, no shipping charges, and no waiting!

How cool is that? This will actually come in handy because we're putting an album together for an upcoming family reunion and some of the out-of-state people are sending their pics in via email. Plus, I took a look at the old can of shaving gel in my shower and saw that IT had one of those little orange stickers on it too! So that's 12 Free Photos just for buying a product I would've bought anyway.

Am I good or what? ;) Kinda makes me feel better about how much I spent yesterday on other stuff. Ugh. Ok, just a little bit better.

Update: This deal just keeps getting better! I just signed in to create an account. It was free and all they asked for was zip code, name, email and birth year. Then it said my trial offer had been stored in my account. So I logged in to check my trial offers and saw this:

Your Trial Offers

Expires Trial Offer Balance

2/2/07 Gillette Satin Care
Terms & Conditions
6 Photo(s) remaining

1/1/11 10 Bonus 1hr Prints

So I guess you get 16 free prints - 6 from Gillette and 10 bonus prints just for creating an account. ;)
